Find a Moose with Me by Suzanne Buzby Hersey was a sweet picture book perfect for nature lovers and children just learning to count. The rhyming and alliteration throughout the work made it highly enjoyable to read aloud. I loved that the parents accompanied the child throughout the adventure. I felt this subtly encouraged families to spend more positive time together. Ashley Halsey’s illustrations were eye-catching and adorable. It was fun locating all the animals and objects being counted. I can see children having a blast with this one, and, of course, it’s a great resource for introducing them to math in an entertaining way. This book also has the potential to inspire many additional activities. For instance, it shared some fun facts about moose, but it could be used to prompt children to do more research on moose and other animals. As a child, I would’ve loved to take this book with me to the local forest preserve and try to spot the animals it mentioned with my mother. (With the exception of moose, unfortunately.) I highly recommend Find a Moose with Me to parents, caregivers, and teachers looking for an easy, entertaining book to read with children.
